Insights from LinkedIn’s AI in Work Day


Work is changing fast. AI isn’t on the horizon. It’s already here. And now, the question for every business leader, professional, and organization isn’t if you’re using AI but how.


As a LinkedIn Top Voice on Workforce Equity and AI, I was invited by the LinkedIn News team to attend AI in Work Day last week. And let me tell you: it wasn’t a hype fest. It was a reset on how we think about work, hiring, performance, and leadership in the AI era.


Here are my biggest takeaways:


1. AI Is No Longer Theoretical. It’s Practical. It’s Performance-Based.

The most repeated phrase of the day came from LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky, who said: > “The future of job search is: Show me what you’ve built.

This is a shift away from potential and resumes, and toward proof and results. The AI era is a builder’s era. Professionals who will stand out are those who can demonstrate what they’ve created, optimized, or solved using AI.

That applies to companies too. If you’re not showing your progress in AI adoption in training, in culture, in strategyyou risk falling behind, even if you’re “talking about it.”


2. AI Skills Are No Longer Optional. And It’s Not Just About Tools.

Catherine Fisher, LinkedIn Career Expert, shared a powerful shift happening in how we assess talent: > “There was a time in interviewing for jobs that role playing was expected scenario-based questions like ‘Tell me about a time when…’ But now, it’s: Show me the use case.


In other words: Don’t just say you know how to use AI. Show us what you’ve done with it.
